“When I first started working at Meadow Well Connected I was supported by some great volunteers, none more so than Dan, who had been here a few years prior to me starting in my role. Dan has given me so much support as a Volunteer and has worked so hard to achieve some great outcomes for himself as well as our clients. Dan will be a miss, there is no doubt of that, I have watched Dan grow in confidence and experience and he is certainly an asset and a valued member of the team.”

Dan's Journey

Dan started working at Meadow Well Connected in 2018 as a volunteer, whilst time allowed as he was bringing up a small family. A quiet unassuming volunteer he soon became a firm favourite amongst staff and clients alike. With a helpful and cheery persona Dan soon found his feet and grew in confidence, working with clients to support them in all areas of IT, his childhood passion which allowed him to develop his skills so much so that this year he began teaching Children and Adults Coding and Digital Editing in our new Digital Suite, which he helped set up.

Dan always enjoyed working in IT, as part of his role he also became really involved in helping people access the correct information regarding their benefits and giving guidance as to where to go for further support. Dan's knowledge and experience have been utilized throughout the service and he has helped so many clients with their Universal Credit and IT skills, not to mention their laptop, devices and phones!

Dan is an example of a man who wanted to give back and do something of benefit, whilst bringing up his two children. Now at a point where he can work full-time Dan will be moving on to help more people and uses his experience gained at Meadow Well Connected to start his new career.

During his time volunteering for Meadow Well Connected he has given over 629 hours of his time which has an equal value to us of almost £6,000 but the care and attention he has given to centre users is Incalculable.

"The staff and team at Meadow Well Connected have given me the support and confidence to be where I am today.  Since starting I have acquired a completely different skill set which has enabled me to move forward to the new position I will be taking up. Coming from a low point in my career and life, I wouldn't have been able to do it without the entire team here; especially Lynn, Leah and Sue.  Meadow Well Connected truly is, not only a centre for the community, but also a place that inspires, provides services across the spectrum and helps people and clients grow. Be that in confidence, skills, regarding health and everything in between and for all ages; it really has been and is, like a second family to me." Dan

We wish Dan all the very best in his new job which we know he'll be fantastic at, he'll be a real miss to everyone here and we can't thank him enough for his dedication, care and help.
