Support our work Corporate partnerships Capita Christmas Cheer More than 100 North Shields residents had the chance to enjoy a free Christmas meal thanks to a Capita and Meadow Well Connected as part of their strategic partnership. Meadow Well Connected held two Christmas meals, on December 4 and 6, for members of the local community. Staff in Capita’s North Tyneside Partnership raised money for all the ingredients, which was supplemented by a donation from Capita and when the meals took place, several staff volunteers turned chef to help the charity’s kitchen team to prepare, cook and serve the food. Capita’s North Tyneside Partnership Director, Richard Carmichael, said: “The charity’s Christmas feed is a great initiative and we were delighted to support it. We have been fundraising for the charity throughout the year and this was a great use of some of the money raised to date and our staff volunteers who got involved in cooking and serving of the food found it a hugely rewarding and enjoyable experience.” Mandi Cresswell, Chief Officer at Meadow Well Connected, said: “This was a fantastic event and it was great to see so many people enjoying the food, socialising and having fun. All the vegetables were locally sourced and organic from our Tyne Fresh food network. The Capita volunteers worked really hard to make sure our café looked festive, the food was ready on time and served with a smile. “We’ve had so many lovely comments of thanks from the people who came along we’d like to pass on a huge thanks to everyone at Capita for making this possible.” Meadow Well Connected was chosen by Capita staff on North Tyneside as their focus for fundraising and volunteering activities in 2018. Staff have previously carried out grounds maintenance and gardening work for the charity. In August 2018 Capita and the charity have entered into a strategic partnership which commits both organisations to a longer-term relationship with each other.
