News What a way to Celebrate! Celebrating in Style On 4th July 2019, Meadow Well Connected celebrated 25 years since it became a registered charity. Throughout the year we have planned a number of different events to mark this special anniversary, but the main events took place on 4th and 6th July 2019. Birthday Party We were delighted to welcome Carol Malia from BBC Look North to co-host our birthday party which was open to local people and partners of the centre. Carol helped to cut a very special cake which had been designed and made by Andy Leigh a local freelance artist and cake-maker. The cake reflected the wide variety of activities which we provide to support our local community from the garden and joinery workshop, to cookery, sports and music workshops. Our neighbours, The Bay Foodbank, came along and were thrilled to see that the design even included a mini Alfie the dog who welcomes people daily as they visit the site. The weather stayed fine and we all enjoyed tea and cake of which we had plenty of cake for everyone as Costco and Asda had also donated cakes for the celebration. Summer Fayre On Saturday 6th July we opened our doors to welcome over 250 people from the local community to enjoy lots of fun activities, rides and delicious food. Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn, officially opened the event by congratulating the team at Meadow Well Connected for all they have achieved and by cutting a ribbon. We were delighted to receive sponsorship from North Gas and Powergrid which enabled lots of free activities to be available for local families to enjoy including a Magic Show, Crazy Creatures and Circus Skills. Karbon Home provided a terrifying climbing wall and it was great to see so many people scaling the heights to reach the top. We would like to thank all our volunteers and staff who made the day so special and everyone who came along to enjoy the fun in the sunshine. Thanks to everyone who came along to support us, we can't wait to see what the next 25 years brings! We are aiming to raise £25,000 for our 25th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign which you can support here.
