OUR RESPONSE

Meadow Well Connected is committed to protecting our staff, volunteers and visitors. As a result, we have taken the decision to close our centre to walk-in visitors and change the way we provide care and support to our community. We will try and help as much as we can remotely: via telephone, email or social media (please read on for more details).

In our continued commitment to our community, we are working to ensure we provide the best, most comprehensive advice from the right people, at the right time. We are therefore supporting North Tyneside Council and North Tyneside VODA who are co-ordinating the Covid-19 response; providing safe, effective, efficient advice to everyone who needs it. If you are struggling as a result of self-isolation or other Covid-19 related issues please call the helpline below in the first instance. The Council are also redeploying staff and working with VODA Good Neighbour volunteers to provide food deliveries to vulnerable groups who are required to self-isolate and others who need support from The Bay Foodbank.

NORTH TYNESIDE COVID-19 HELPLINE - 0345 2000 101

AT MEADOW WELL CONNECTED:

We continue to be there for local people. If you need to speak to someone, for any reason,  our main line is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Just call and we'll be there for you:

0191 341 0033

WELL TOGETHER - PAUSE

Our team are currently providing remote support over the phone. Sue Wharton, our Specialist Alcohol Worker, can provide telephone support and will be sharing advice about keeping healthy during this period of staying at home. Follow our social media channels for more information or contact Sue on 07984 547504.

THRIVE - ADULT DAY CARE

In order to keep our clients and staff safe we have suspended our Thrive adult day care service. This is to encourage clients to follow government guidance on safe social distancing and, where appropriate, self-isolation. It also means our staff can work safely from home. The service will resume as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will be in regular contact with clients to check they're coping with the current restrictions.

WISE STEPS

Our Wise Steps Coaches are working remotely to provide support to clients. Anyone who is currently working with Annette or Ian will be contacted by them, but if you need to speak to either of them urgently you can do so by telephone. Annette: 07388 376329 or Ian: 07388 376328

IT SUITE

Our free to use I.T suite is currently closed but we can offer telephone support if you need advice about making a claim for universal credit. Please contact our main line: 0191 3410033 and we will be happy to help.

FOOD

There are a great deal of responses locally to the need for food so we are working cooperatively with VODA's Good Neighbours and The Bay Foodbank rather than developing a service of our own. Should you need a food parcel/food delivery you will need to contact Adult Services at North Tyneside Council for a referral on 0191 643 2777.

Our cafe is temporarily closed, due to current government guidelines.

THINGS TO DO

We are sharing lots of hints and ideas to help keep people occupied during self-isolation via Facebook.

We have created and delivered over 100 Easter activity packs for children, thanks to our volunteers for supporting this delivery.

Our Free Little Library has been stocked with books, please feel free to borrow a book to read.

GARDENS

We have had to close our gardens to volunteers at present in order to ensure everyone can follow government guidance to stay at home and limit social contact. However, if government advice changes and it becomes possible to re- open the gardens safely for people to enjoy, we will do so. In the meantime, please join our Meadow Well Connected Garden Group on Facebook. We will be posting garden updates here and will be sharing garden- related ideas.
